Fishermen from the province’s Kien Hai District were at sea on Tuesday when they saw 11 plastic bags with Chinese characters on them. They fished them out and handed them over to the police.
Kien Hai authorities said later the bags contained around 11 kg of drugs but did not identify what kind.
Earlier, on December 18, fishermen in Phu Quoc Island found dozens of similar bags with around 38 kg of drugs.
This is not the first time that large quantities of drugs have been found drifting at sea off Vietnam.
Late last year bags of heroin and methamphetamine washed ashore in the central Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Tri and Quang Nam provinces.
