Vietnam confirmed 19 people Covid-19 free Wednesday morning as the nation entered its fifth day free of community transmissions.

Aged from eight to 75, the 19 recoveries are all citizens of Quang Nam Province that borders central Da Nang City.

All had contracted the novel coronavirus via local transmission during the outbreak in Da Nang, and were treated at Quang Nam Regional General Hospital and Quang Nam Central General Hospital.

Each have tested negative for the virus at least thrice.

After leaving hospital, the recoveries will be monitored at home for 14 more days by local health authorities, who will test each twice more.

Since September 3, Vietnam has recorded no community transmissions.

The nation has so far reported 1,049 Covid-19 cases. Of these, 691 were locally transmitted, with 551 related to the outbreak in Da Nang, counting from July 25 when local transmissions returned to Vietnam after more than three months.

Since then, Da Nang alone has confirmed 389 Covid-19 infectees.

The central city had eased its social distancing campaign after containing the local Covid-19 outbreak. It now allows restaurants, shops, along with food and beverage establishments to offer takeaway services and issues 'tickets' for citizens to visit the market every three days.

Starting Monday, airlines, railways, and passenger vehicles have been allowed to operate normally after being suspended on July 28.
