The index closed 4.59 points higher after gaining 14.60 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 3% to VND14.74 trillion ($605.96 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 17 tickers gained and 13 fell.
VHM of property giant Vinhomes led with a 1.7% rise, followed by FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation and HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group, both went up 1.3%.
Eleven blue chips fell. PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex dropped 0.6% and BID of state-owned lender BIDV closed 0.5% lower.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND311 billion, mainly selling VHM and VND of brokerage VNDirect.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.79%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.05%.
