The index closed 5.38 points higher after gaining 16.34 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 17% to VND34.734 trillion (US$1.4 billion).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 15 tickers gained.
CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank and BID of state-owned lender BIDV both led with a 2.3% increase, followed by VCB of lender Vietcombank, up 1.3%.
Fifteen blue chips fell. PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex went down 1.2%, FPT of technology giant FPT Corporation slid 1.1% and VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail decreased by 0.9%.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND463 billion, mainly selling ACB of Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank and VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.22%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.14%.
