Stock market starts week in green

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index rose 1.20% to 1,089.66 points Monday.

The index closed 12.88 points higher after gaining 1.31 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 9% to VND14.079 trillion ($578.55 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 24 tickers gained and 6 fell.

The top gainers included VPB of private lender VPBank up 5.1% and SSB of SeABank, up 4.1%.

SAB of brewer Sabeco gained 3.6%.

Meanwhile, MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World downed 2.3%, and VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail fell 1.6%.

Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND351 billion. They mainly net bought STB and HPG.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.85%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 1.06%.
