Jujube juice replenishes blood, moisturizes the lungs, reduces cough, boosts the immune system, reduces blood sugar, improves intestinal health, protects the liver, promotes good sleep, and supports weight loss.

Dr. Huynh Tan Vu at the HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital stated that jujube is a familiar medicinal herb in traditional medicine that has many wonderful health benefits. Dried jujube is also a nutritious ingredient in many dishes.

In modern medicine, jujube is rich in nutrients. The fruit contains numerous antioxidant compounds and provides compounds such as flavonoids, polysaccharides, and triterpenic acids. It is also rich in vitamins and minerals, while low in calories. Specifically, 100 grams of fresh jujube contain 0.2 grams of fat, 1.2 grams of protein, 20.2 grams of carbohydrates, 250mg of potassium, and 69mg of vitamin C, which is approximately 77% of the recommended daily value.

In traditional medicine historical documents, it is noted that jujube has a sweet taste and is believed to be able to strengthen the body, relieve restlessness, nourish the body, harmonize the digestive system, and detoxify the body.

Additionally, with its sweet and refreshing taste and soft and chewy texture, jujube is often used in traditional desserts and nourishing dishes such as braised chicken, beauty-enhancing tea, porridge, and soup.

Here are the health benefits of jujube juice:

Protecting the liver and strengthening muscles

Jujube, rich in minerals like phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and complex B vitamins, can increase serum albumin and total protein levels when consumed as juice. This medicinal ingredient effectively protects liver function and helps to increase muscle strength.

Supplementing blood circulation

Jujube contains 19 types of amino acids, including eight essential amino acids required by the body daily. They are also rich in vitamin A, complex B vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin E. In addition, jujube is rich in iron, zinc, and selenium. These elements can enhance blood production and function.

Moisturizing the lungs and reducing coughs

Both goji berry and jujube contain a significant amount of carotene, which can be converted into vitamin A in the body. Moreover, the content of vitamin A in goji berry and jujube is relatively rich, supporting the normal development and differentiation of epithelial tissue and enhancing the respiratory tract’s ability to resist viruses.

Hence, drinking goji berriy and jujube juice can relieve coughing symptoms and benefit the lungs.

Other benefits

Jujube juice also has other benefits:

- Improves the immune system as betulinic acid found in it has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
- Lowers the blood sugar level.
- Prevents constipation, improves gut health, and eases the condition of inflammatory bowel disease.
- Prevents the harmful effects of free radicals due to the presence of the antioxidant compound flavonoid kaempferol 3-O-rutinoside.
- Promotes deeper and better sleep.
- Helps reduce abdominal fat and enhance the weight loss process.

Jujube is indeed beneficial for human health, but it is important to follow the recommended dosage when using it in herbal remedies. It is advised not to add other herbs without consulting an expert.

Children and pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using jujube to determine the appropriate dosage. Users who experience signs of poisoning or allergic reactions to the herb should stop consuming and seek prompt medical treatment.
