According to Sina, her photos from the Monday event quickly became one of the most-discussed topics on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, attracting tens of thousands of comments. The term "Shu Qi’s ageless beauty" was a recurring phrase in many of the posts.
Many fans were captivated by her sleek black dress that accentuated her figure. She opted for a subtle makeup look with an emphasis on glossy, plump lips.
"I’m nearly 40 years old, and Shu Qi is as stunning as when I first saw her 20 years ago," commented a Weibo user.
"Shu Qi is both elegant and irresistibly charming," added another.
Shu Qi frequently receives accolades from fashion magazines and numerous fans for her age-defying appearance at 49. Vogue has described her as radiating a relaxed and welcoming aura, which endears her to those she meets.
Speaking with Business Weekly, the actress expressed her belief that age is a state of mind, emphasizing that her focus lies on her work motivation, self-confidence, and enjoyment rather than on the years passing by. Unconcerned with the appearance of wrinkles, she devotes her time to her professional endeavors and relationships.
"I am punctual and never worry about time," Shu Qi herself stated. "Time is passing, so we must cherish every moment of the present."
Born Lin Li Hui, Shu Qi launched her entertainment career as a teenager, initially appearing in softcore adult films. By the mid-1990s, she caught the attention of leading directors in Hong Kong and Taiwan and achieved stardom through significant roles in "Viva Erotica" and "Bishonen."
Her global standing was cemented with performances in "The Transporter" and "So Close" in 2002, "Three Times" in 2005, "My Wife Is a Gangster 3" in 2006, and "Love" in 2012.
In 2023, Shu Qi served as a jury member at the Venice International Film Festival’s main competition. Her tenure on juries at major European film festivals, including previous roles in Berlin in 2008 and Cannes in 2009, places her among a select group of female artists of Chinese descent, including Gong Li and Maggie Cheung, who have held similar positions.
She also recently completed her directorial debut with the film "Girl."
