"I am so happy that filming is wrapped," Shu Qi expressed in a press statement on Tuesday, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. "I look forward to sharing this film with audiences everywhere."
According to Variety, Shu Qi does not appear as an actress in "Girl." While specific details about the plot and cast remain confidential, the film has generated considerable buzz.
The film has garnered support from Taiwanese executive producer Yeh Jufeng, who is celebrated for his role in acclaimed movies such as "A Sun" and "The Great Buddha+". Meanwhile, several leading Taiwanese entertainment firms back its production, including CMC Entertainment, Wow momentum, J.Q. Pictures, and Aranya Pictures, with Mandarin Vision overseeing production responsibilities.
Shu Qi, 50, embarked on her career in the entertainment sector as a teenager, initially appearing in softcore pornography films. She gained recognition from notable directors in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the mid-1990s, and became a household name with pivotal roles in "Viva Erotica" and "Bishonen."
Her international acclaim was bolstered by her performances in "The Transporter" and "So Close" in 2002, "Three Times" in 2005, "My Wife Is a Gangster 3" in 2006, and "Love" in 2012.
In 2023, she was a jury member at the Venice International Film Festival’s main competition. Her role as a jury member at major European film festivals, including Berlin in 2008 and Cannes in 2009, marks her as the third female artist of Chinese descent to serve on the jury at these top three European film festivals, alongside actresses Gong Li and Maggie Cheung.
