The Straits Times, citing Malaysian media, reported that on Feb. 11, a boy identified as Hadi was using the master bedroom’s bathroom in his four-story home when he lifted the toilet seat and was bitten by a snake hiding underneath.

His mother, Adibah Aziz, said she was cooking when she heard him scream.

"I was cooking in the kitchen when I heard him scream and saw him run out of the room, bleeding," Malay Mail quoted her as saying.

"He told me he was bitten by a snake, so I rushed to get help from neighbors, who quickly called an ambulance and the Malaysian Civil Defense Force."

Hadi was taken to Ampang Hospital with bite wounds on his inner thigh and hand. Doctors said he was in stable condition.

Adibah noted that snakes were common in the area due to the home’s proximity to Zoo Negara and surrounding forests.

The Gombak District APM, alerted at 12:45 p.m., dispatched four officers who captured the python and took it to their headquarters. It is unclear whether the snake has been released into the wild.

Reticulated pythons, native to Southeast Asia, can grow up to seven meters long and weigh as much as 75 kilograms.
