Two homes in central Quang Ngai Province and Da Nang City have won prestigious Dezeen awards in the categories of urban and rural design.
The Red Roof House in central Quang Ngai Province has won the Dezeen Awards 2020 architecture project of the year, as well as being named the rural house of the year. Located on an 80-sq-meter plot, the house is a gift given to a 50-year-old couple by their children. According to architecture studio TAA Design, they wanted to create a new kind of rural home that creates a closed cycle of growth, harvest and consumption when designing this project.

The special feature of the house is the stepped roof section allowing homeowners to grow vegetables. Sally Mackereth, founder of London-based Studio Mackereth, told Dezeen that this project embodies the spirit of design in 2020. Perhaps it’s no wonder, given the situation we find ourselves in, that we were seduced by a project with nature at its heart.
