Hoiana Open Golf Tournament 2024, hosted by Hoiana Resort & Golf, raised VND1.2 billion (US$47,350) to support underprivileged and disabled children in Quang Nam.

The Hoiana Open Golf Tournament 2024 took place on April 27 at the Hoiana Shores Golf Club (HSGC), a world-class golf course at Hoiana Resort & Golf.

The event drew over 100 international and domestic golfers from various skill levels, divided into 5 groups, competing in a stroke play format.

The event left an impression with the show-up of legendary British golfer Nick Faldo.

As an esteemed guest of one of the event sponsors, Faldo talked about his life of playing golf and donated some artifacts and cash for the fundraising part.

During the 1990s, Faldo was considered the best golfer in the world and is the only British golfer to have been knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

Beyond being a fair play competition for golf enthusiasts, the tournament champions a noble cause.

Under the theme "Swing for Children of Vietnam," it aims to raise funds for underprivileged children and those living with disabilities in Quang Nam Province.

The event garnered an overwhelming response from golfers and donors, successfully raising over VND1.2 billion.

These funds will be distributed to the Quang Nam Charity Association, the VinaCapital Foundation (VCF), and the Kianh Foundation.

A significant portion will be directed towards enhancing the quality of life for disabled children at the Kianh Foundation Day Center in Dien Ban Town in Quang Nam.

A part of the donations will support six of VinaCapital Foundation’s recently launched Brighter Path Girls Clubs in Quang Nam, which play a crucial role in empowering ethnic minority female students there.

Two local schools, Nguyen Trai Primary School and Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School in Thang Binh District in Quang Nam, benefit from the remaining funds for infrastructural improvements via the Quang Nam Charity Association.

At the event, Rad Kivette, CEO of VinaCapital Foundation, expressed his appreciation to Hoiana for their positive contributions to various partnered programs since their very first day.

Hoiana and VCF have coordinated more than 10 CSR activities and initiatives, with a total value exceeding VND8 billion ($315,600).

"Hoiana Shores Golf Club annually hosts and participates in charity events to support the less fortunate. We aspire for our upcoming tournaments to not only grow in scale but also amplify the spirit of giving and creating meaningful changes within the community," said Steven Wolstenholme, President and CEO of Hoiana Resort.

Since 2016, charity activities conducted by HSGC have collected nearly VND5 billion ($197,300), constituting 20% of the total community contribution from Hoiana Cares, the resort’s CSR programs.

Notably, Hoiana Open Cup 2022 raised VND230 million ($9,075) to aid impoverished children in Da Nang and Quang Nam.

Similarly, the charity golf tournament "Greenkeepers' Revenge," held in September 2023, involved golf-related experts from central Vietnam and raised over VND130 million ($5,129) to support Duy Hai Kindergarten and Duy Hai Primary School to improve their facilities and support unprivileged students.
