'Nguoi Lang Nghe: Loi Thi Tham' (Listeners: The Whispering) has scooped five prizes, including for Best Thriller, at the Vegas Movie Awards in the U.S.

It also won the Best First Time Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenwriter awards.

The movie, directed by Khoa Nguyen, was scheduled for release in Vietnam in March, but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It revolves around main character An Nhien (played by Oanh Kieu), a young writer. After completing a novel, 'Listener,' she is repeatedly attacked by a "ghost" causing a mental crisis. She overcomes her obsession by drawing strange shapes, gradually revealing her hidden past.

Last month it had won three awards at Asia Film Art International Film Festival, and was named best feature film made with a budget of less than $250,000 at the 2021 International New York Film Festival.

Vegas Movie Awards is a prestigious bimonthly competition and annual online movie festival for filmmakers worldwide.
