Psychological thriller 'Nguoi Lang Nghe: Loi Thi Tham' (Listeners: The Whispering) won three awards at Asia Film Art International Film Festival (AFAIFF) on Monday.

The Best Actress award went to lead role Oanh Kieu while the two extra prizes (Special Mention) were given to the film and actor Quang Su.

"The role of An Nhien was an opportunity for me to challenge myself. The character has a complex psychology, it is necessary to show diversity in each gesture, action, word and look," Kieu said.

Director Khoa Nguyen called it an honor after receiving news from the organizers, stating: "Due to the pandemic, the film could not be released domestically, which is a great sadness for the crew. This achievement encourages us to overcome this difficult period."

The film revolves around the main character An Nhien (Oanh Kieu) - a young writer. After completing the novel Listener, she was repeatedly attacked by a "ghost", causing her to fall into a mental crisis. The character overcomes the obsession by drawing strange shapes, thereby gradually revealing An Nhien's hidden past.

Launched in 2018, AFAIFF is organized by Hong Kong Film Arts Association (HKFAA) and Macau Film Arts Association (MFAA), to inspire, motivate, and award new artistic talents. Nominations are divided into two categories: short film (under 45 minutes) and feature film (over 60 minutes).
