What is Myanmar’s Thae Su Nyein doing after losing MGI 2nd runner-up title?

According to Tien Phong Newspaper, nearly a month following the MGI finals, Thae’s social media posts reveal she is currently focused on her work as a livestreamer, selling products online.

She has also been observed singing on a makeshift stage in a park, with hardly any audience present. Despite the sparse attendance, she performs enthusiastically. While some speculate that these performances might merely be rehearsals and not actual events, the fact that the former beauty queen is participating in such modest events has surprised many. Some believe that Thae’s career trajectory might have been different had she and her team accepted the second runner-up title without dissent.

On Oct. 27, during an Instagram live stream, Thae announced she would return her crown, stating she felt cheated out of winning two special awards: Best in National Costume and Country’s Power of the Year, as reported by ABS-CBN News.

The awards for Best National Costume were given to contestants from Brazil, Ecuador, and Honduras, while Thailand received the Country’s Power of the Year award.

At the coronation event the previous day, Thae was named second runner-up, behind representatives from the Philippines and India, who were declared the first runner-up and winner, respectively. However, Thae departed the event visibly upset with her team shortly after the announcement, choosing not to participate in the activities scheduled for the top five finalists.

On Oct. 28, the MGI organization declared on its Facebook page that it had rescinded Thae’s title due to "inappropriate behavior."

Founded in 2013 by Thai television host and producer Nawat Itsaragrisil, MGI is known for emphasizing humanitarian efforts, with winners advocating for charitable causes during their reign. Contestants are selected through national competitions, internal casting, or direct selection by franchise holders in their countries or territories.
