Emmy-nominated American actress Selena Gomez has expressed her thanks upon achieving billionaire status, though she mentions she finds discussing money "distasteful."

"I personally think it’s distasteful to talk about money," she told Entertainment Tonight at the New York Film Festival red carpet on Sept. 30. "But I really am giving all the credit to the people who buy the products."

She continued: "They’re the ones that made this dream of mine come true, so I’m really, really honored and just happy."

Last month, Bloomberg reported that Gomez's net worth has reached around $1.3 billion, primarily from the success of her Rare Beauty cosmetics line, launched in 2019. Her wealth also comes from her involvement in the mental health platform Wondermind, her real estate investments, her career in music and acting, and multiple brand endorsements.

At 32, Gomez began her career as a child actress in 2002 and rose to fame as a teen idol. Her accolades include a Cannes Film Festival Award, an American Music Award, a Billboard Music Award, and two MTV Video Music Awards.

She has received seven Emmy Award nominations, two Grammy Award nominations, and two Golden Globe Award nominations, and her studio albums have topped the US Billboard 200.

The artist also ranks as the third most-followed person on Instagram, boasting 424 million followers. Reports indicate that she earns approximately $30 million for each social media advertising deal.
