Singapore's Pan Pacific Orchard hotel has been named the world's best new skyscraper by the U.S.-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), a nonprofit organization that recognizes architectural excellence.

The 23-story, 140-meter-tall building, which opened in June 2023, was praised for exemplifying "the best of responsible vertical urbanism," according to Javier Quintana de Una, CTBUH's chief executive, as reported by The Straits Times.

The hotel, designed by Singapore-based Woha Architects, integrates greenery into its structure, reflecting Singapore’s heritage. It also incorporates sustainable features such as solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems, aimed at reducing energy and water consumption, Channel News Asia reported.

With 343 rooms, the Pan Pacific Orchard boasts lobbies, swimming pools, gardens and ballrooms, combining luxury with eco-conscious design.

Other notable Asian skyscrapers also received accolades from CTBUH during its annual awards, held from Sept. 23 to 27. Malaysia's Petronas Towers took home the Global Icon Award, while China's Greenland Hangzhou Century Center was named Asia's best tall building.
