According to Phil Star, Masalva, 44, is reported to be in critical but stable condition at a hospital in Dubai, where he was admitted on March 18 after arriving from the Philippines. His manager Jaime Jaramillo Espinosa confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that Masalva began experiencing internal discomfort and pain, which worsened over time.

Further investigation revealed the infection had spread to his lungs, leading to emergency surgery on March 26. Following the procedure, Masalva was placed in a medically induced coma to support his recovery.

Espinosa added that Masalva’s lungs are responding positively to antibiotics, with the respirator setting lowered to 80%, which signals improvement.

In an effort to help with mounting medical expenses, Masalva’s family has launched a GoFundMe page. His close friend, Mexican actor Mario Morán, also posted on Instagram, explaining the financial burden they are facing.

"The medical costs are enormous, and in a country where everything is even more difficult, any help, no matter how small it may seem, can make a difference in this difficult moment," Morán wrote. "If you are able to contribute, we will express our heart-filled gratitude."

In a subsequent post, Morán thanked those who have donated or sent well wishes. He acknowledged that while Masalva’s condition remains critical, he is still receiving treatment.

Just days before his hospitalization, on March 14, Masalva shared on social media how much he had enjoyed his trip to the Philippines, describing it as "one of the most beautiful experiences of my life."

Masalva, who made his acting debut in 2014, is also known for his roles in "La Rosa de Guadalupe" and "La Guzmán." Fans and colleagues are rallying behind him as he fights for recovery.
