On Nov. 7, the Miss Universe Panama organization officially announced the removal of Italy’s crown, citing repeated breaches of contract. "Failure to comply with the rules communicated to each candidate by the Miss Universe Organization led to our representative’s disqualification. The Miss Panama Organization has always prioritized candidates' integrity; however, due to repeated contract violations by the candidate, we regretfully announce the formal revocation of Italy Mora's title as Miss Universe Panama 2024," the organization shared in a statement reported by Hola!
Looking ahead, the organization added: "The Miss Panama Organization reaffirms its commitment to Miss Universe and will focus on selecting a new representative for Miss Universe 2025, someone we trust will fulfill her responsibilities with dedication."

Italy’s disqualification was announced on Nov. 1, just as she and 130 other contestants were preparing for a gala event in Mexico. Miss Universe organizers explained: "It is important to note that we made this decision with the utmost respect for all parties involved. Our number one priority remains the welfare and transparency for all of our contestants, who exemplify diversity, talent, and dedication."
On Nov. 3, Italy posted on social media that she had been informed of alleged rule violations during Miss Universe, including leaving her assigned room and not following scheduled activities.
In an interview with La Mordida, Italy recounted that on Nov. 1, César Anel Rodríguez, national director of Miss Universe Panama, summoned her and her boyfriend to discuss makeup plans for upcoming events. However, an argument ensued, and César left the room abruptly. Shortly after, a Miss Universe staff member found Italy alone with her boyfriend in the room and reported it to the organizers.
Italy described the experience as emotionally distressing and damaging to her reputation, adding: "If my boyfriend weren’t with me, this would be even harder."
According to Abc.es, Italy further alleged that César did not offer her support during the competition and even requested certain payments from her after her coronation. Italy’s boyfriend also shared that he helped cover various expenses, including a $7,000 Carolina Herrera gown. César has yet to respond to these claims.
