Malaysian actress and former supermodel Zahnita Wilson's husband has been arrested following allegations of domestic violence.

Kuantan OCPD Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu confirmed the arrest on Monday and stated: "The case will be investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code (for criminal intimidation), and the man involved will be brought to court tomorrow for a remand order," The Star reported.

The allegations surfaced when Zahnita shared a photo on Instagram revealing bruises on her face, shocking her followers. "I didn’t want to do this, but I had to. This is the reason why I left my old house and also the reason why I always wear sunglasses," the former model wrote.

"The reason I was hit was because I asked my husband if he had another girl. He couldn’t process the question well enough to give a verbal answer," she recounted the incident to Sinar Daily. She revealed that she had endured this abuse for a long time but had only recently decided to speak out.

Two days prior to her post, Zahnita, 39, mentioned relocating to a new area to focus on her pie business, which she had been managing for several months.

A source close to Zahnita shared that this was not the first time the actress had faced abuse, but she had kept quiet in the past to protect her family. "If we follow it, this is not the first incident, but before Zahnita chose to keep her mouth shut so that her family members did not even know."

"Zahnita was informed that her eldest son had also been called to assist in the investigation and that she was anxious to meet her three children because she was only able to bring her youngest son to move two days ago.

"Let’s all pray that everything will be made easier for Zahnita," the source said.

Zahnita, of mixed Malay-New Zealand heritage, married her husband in 2005, and the couple has four children. In 2013, Zahnita filed for divorce but later reconciled with her husband and saved their marriage.
