Page Six reported that Kardashian chose scarlet attire not just once but twice during the celebrations, attracting criticism from fans who pointed out that red is traditionally worn by the bride in Indian weddings.

On July 12, the kickoff of the opulent three-day event, the socialite was seen in a red lehenga, a traditional Indian ankle-length skirt. She again wore a red outfit with a long veil on July 14. Both pieces were designed by Indian fashion designer Gaurav Gupta.

Her selection of red sparked discussions among fashion critics and her Instagram followers, who compared it to wearing white at a Western wedding—a color typically reserved for the bride.

Fashion expert Eshita Kabra-Davies, founder of the U.K. peer-to-peer fashion rental app By Rotation, described wearing red to an Indian wedding as a significant fashion misstep to Who What Wear.

"I would advise against wearing red to any event, regardless of whether you are a female or male guest," she stated.

"Not supposed to wear red to a wedding in India," commented an Instagram user under Kardashian’s post, reinforcing the sentiment that it’s reserved for the bride.

"Wearing red to an Indian wedding is diabolical...," another said.

Kim Kardashian, 44, first came into the public eye as a friend and stylist of American media personality Paris Hilton but gained broader fame following the release of a sex tape with her then-boyfriend Ray J in 2007. Later that year, she and her family starred in the reality television series "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," which ran until 2021 and was hugely successful.

Anant Ambani, 28, is the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, who leads the Reliance Industries conglomerate with annual revenues of US$110 billion.

As of July 17, Forbes ranks Mukesh Ambani’s net worth at US$122 billion, positioning him as the richest person in Asia and the 11th wealthiest globally.

Radhika Merchant, 29, is the daughter of Shri Viren Merchant, the CEO of the notable Indian healthcare company Encore Healthcare.

Both Anant and Radhika received their education at universities in the U.S.

Their grand wedding ceremony was held at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre from July 12 to 14. In addition to Kardashian, guests to the event included former U.K. Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, Samsung Electronics’ chairman Jay Lee, American professional boxer Mike Tyson, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
