Hong Kong actress Lily Li passes away from lung cancer

Hong Kong actress Lily Li, renowned for her role in "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils," has passed away from lung cancer at 74.

Veteran journalist Wong Man Ling announced Li’s passing on Oct. 27 via Weibo, stating that she died in a hospital.

According to The Star, Li was diagnosed with lung cancer a few years ago, but it began to progress aggressively recently, leading to her hospitalization last month.

Li, recognized as one of Hong Kong’s pioneering martial arts actresses, had a career spanning nearly six decades. She began her career at the age of 11 after joining the Shaw Brothers' training program, having falsified her age to be accepted.

The actress joined TVB in 1988 and remained with the broadcaster until her retirement in 2020.

Her notable works include "The Wandering Swordsman," "Executioners From Shaolin," "Beyond The Realm of Conscience," and "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils." Her last television appearance was as Grandma Tao in "Forensic Heroes IV."
