According to Dimsum Daily, the video shows that the incident occurred as Yip was leaving her workplace, where a crowd of fans had gathered. In the footage, Yip is seen greeting her fans before entering her car. The situation escalated when an enthusiastic elderly fan rushed toward the vehicle. Despite efforts from Yip’s bodyguard to intervene, the fan persisted, growing increasingly agitated and reaching out to shake hands with the actress.

Remaining composed, Yip smiled and extended her hand for the handshake. However, after the exchange, the fan continued to pull at Yip, eventually dragging her partially out of the car. Despite the tense moment, the actress remained calm, offering the fan a hug before re-entering the vehicle and leaving the scene.

The video sparked concerns about the security at the scene, with many fans questioning whether Yip had been unsettled by the encounter, as reported by The Star.

Addressing the incident on her Weibo account, Yip clarified that the fan’s actions were not as alarming as they appeared in the video. She shared that the fan had expressed excitement about meeting her, saying: "Cecilia, I’m the same age as you. I don’t know how to purchase tickets, so I could only wait here.I’ve liked you for many years and finally got to meet you."

Touched by the fan’s words, Yip approached her and offered a hug, she said. She also reassured her followers that her security was handled properly and that the staff had spoken to the fan, who later apologized for her actions and assured it wouldn’t happen again.

"I hope everyone will not speculate based on pictures or videos," Yip wrote. "Sometimes, what we see isn’t the whole picture."

Yip, 62, debuted in 1982 with the film "Nomad," which earned her a Best New Performer nomination at the Hong Kong Film Awards. She later won the Best Actress title in 1984.

Her other notable works include "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber," "Men Don’t Cry," and "Xuan-Yuan Sword: Scar of Sky."
