Hong Kong actor Ruco Chan defends beauty queen wife against 'gold digger' claims

Sin, 34, faced accusations from internet critics of being materialistic and using Chan's money on luxury items after she was seen with a Hermes Birkin bag, reportedly worth HK$160,000 (RM96,616), during a museum visit with her husband.

The Star quoted Chan, 47, defending his wife against these allegations, explaining: "We were attending an exhibition with many valuable artifacts, so we were dressed formally."

He added that he had given Sin the bag a long time ago by his own choice, and it is appropriate for him to buy gifts for his wife.

Chan and Sin met in 2016 when he was a guest judge at the Miss Hong Kong beauty pageant, where she was a contestant.

The couple got engaged in September 2018, married one month later, and now have a five-year-old daughter.

Chan is widely recognized for his roles in the films "Shanghai Affairs" (1998), "I've Got the Power" (2022), and "Big Bullet" (1996). He made history as the first TVB actor to win the My Favourite TVB Actor award at the StarHub TVB Awards for three consecutive years (2014, 2015, 2016).

Sin, who placed in the top 10 of the 2016 Miss Hong Kong pageant, is now a presenter for Hong Kong’s television broadcasting company TVB.
