News portal 8days reported on Friday that the 42-year-old was seen driving a Citybus on an airport route. Passengers who recognized him despite his mask and uniform shared photos and comments on social media, quickly sparking online discussion and surprise at seeing a former pop idol behind the wheel of a public bus.
Wong later confirmed that he is serious about the job, explaining that he needed an additional source of income to cope with gaps in his acting career. Under current requirements, he must complete about 120 hours of driving every six months to maintain his position.
In addition to holding a public bus license, Wong announced on social media that he had recently obtained a travel coach driving license. He is also licensed to drive taxis and red minibuses, while a heavy-goods vehicle license remains among his future goals.
Beyond driving, Wong runs a YouTube channel focused on automobiles and has participated in racing activities, earning him the nickname "King of All Vehicles" within Hong Kong’s entertainment circles.
Responding to public reaction, Wong wrote on social media: "Being a bus driver is not easy at all. I believe everyone who works hard for their livelihood absolutely deserves respect."
He added that acquiring professional driving licenses was driven not only by personal interest and content creation purposes, but also by a desire to better equip himself in the face of uncertainty.
The entertainer also said he prefers to take initiative rather than complain about the industry’s downturn. He now balances multiple roles as an actor, content creator, and professional driver.
Public response has been largely supportive, with many netizens praising his work ethic and humility.
"Full of positive energy," one Facebook user commented under a post by Wong.
"I really admire your perseverance and courage," another wrote. "I look forward to having the chance to be your passenger, with you guiding me to my destination."
Others left messages of encouragement, including "Fighting."
According to entertainment news site Koreaboo, Wong debuted in the pop duo Shine in 2002 alongside Tien You Chien and ventured into acting the same year. He was nominated for Best New Performer at the 22nd Hong Kong Film Awards in 2003 for his roles in "Just One Look" and "Hollywood Hong Kong."
