"This was a frightening incident," Wong stated, according to Dimsum Daily.
He detailed that based on what he heard at the time, the perpetrators initially aimed to abduct Lee but lost track of her and inadvertently encountered Lau, who was waiting in her car outside a friend’s residence, instead.
The incident culminated in the publication of disturbing photographs of Lau, which were taken during her captivity and later circulated by a magazine, sparking widespread outrage and sympathy.
Lee, dubbed the "Electric-Eyed Beauty" for her striking features, gained fame after winning the Miss Photogenic title and placing first runner-up in the 1987 Miss Hong Kong pageant. She subsequently joined TVB, starring in several drama series such as "Return Engagement" and "The Sword Stained With Royal Blood."

According to 8days, Lee had a brief romantic relationship with Peter Lee before embarking on her entertainment career. She married actor and lyricist Andrew Lam in 1990 in a secret ceremony, though the marriage ended in divorce in 1995. It wasn’t until 2008, following Lam’s divorce from his second wife, actress Brianna Chan, that their marriage came to light.
Shortly after her divorce, Lee became engaged to Hsiang Chung, a supervisor at TransAsia Airways.
According to AFP, Lee Shau Kee passed away at the age of 97 on March 17, as announced in a press release by his company Henderson Land Development. As of February, Forbes listed Lee Shau Kee as Hong Kong’s second-richest man with a net worth of US$29.2 billion.
Lau, now 60, started her acting career in 1984 and became a prominent figure in the 1980s with her roles in numerous successful drama series. Her performances in the "Infernal Affairs" sequels and Wong Kar Wai’s "2046" have further solidified her international reputation.
