According to HK01, Chun’s eldest daughter accumulated a substantial amount of debt and turned to him for help. To support her, he sold his house and later provided her with an additional 3 million HKD (around US$385,000).
Now facing a 600,000 HKD debt to the bank, Chun admitted he is unable to repay it and regrets not investigating his daughter’s financial situation more thoroughly before giving her his savings.
Chun described himself as destitute, without a home or family, but accepts it as "his fate" rather than seeing it as a failure.
The 76-year-old actor, now facing health and mobility challenges, lives in a nursing home where he receives government assistance for food, accommodation, and medical care. He mentioned that he enjoys the meals there and no longer needs to take on acting roles just to meet his basic living expenses.
Chun also shared that he recently ended his relationship with his girlfriend, Mary, who resides in mainland China, due to financial limitations. He couldn’t afford her travel expenses, and she was unwilling to cover the costs herself.
Chun was the one who initiated the breakup but harbors no ill feelings. He said: "What’s most important now is taking care of myself and living each day in peace."

Mary, who is 30 years younger than Chun, lived with him before his divorce from Mo Peiwen, who passed away in 2017. Chun even purchased a house for Mary in her hometown. She once expressed a desire to have a child with him, but Chun declined, and she later had a child with another man.
Despite this, Mary continued living with Chun, and he helped raise her daughter until late 2023. Chun never questioned the child's biological father, and Mary never mentioned it.
Chun has four children with his wife, Mo Peiwen. Reports indicate that his relationship with his children deteriorated after he began neglecting them and Mo due to his involvement with Mary. It’s also reported that Mo attempted to divorce Chun six times, all of which Chun refused, leading to their ongoing separation.
Chun, who has had a long-standing relationship with Hong Kong broadcaster TVB, is well-known for his performances in film adaptations of Jin Yong's wuxia (martial arts) novels.
