Addressing the camera, she said, "Happy New Year. I’m in Hong Kong for the New Year. I saw this (cherry blossoms) when I passed by and wished everyone a Happy New Year."
Despite being in a public space, Cheung’s low-key appearance allowed her to blend in, with passers-by failing to recognize her or approach her for photos.
Cheung, 44, first gained attention in 1998 when she appeared in a television commercial for lemon tea, which caught the eye of Hong Kong filmmaker Stephen Chow. She made her film debut in Chow’s 1999 film "King of Comedy," playing a call girl. The film was the highest-grossing local film of that year and catapulted Cheung to stardom.
In 2006, Cheung married Hong Kong actor Nicholas Tse, also 44. The couple divorced in 2011 after having two sons.
Cheung welcomed her third son in 2018 but has kept the father’s identity private, leading to widespread speculation. Media tycoon Sun Donghai was rumored to be the father, but he denied these claims and threatened legal action against those spreading the rumors.
