Pinkvilla reports that Barbie’s romantic endeavors first made headlines in the late 1990s when she dated South Korean musician DJ Koo, then a member of the K-pop duo CLON.
According to The Straits Times, they met while DJ Koo was interviewed in Taiwan by Barbie and her sister, Dee Hsu, during his work visit. Barbie had previously expressed her admiration for DJ Koo, even hoping to marry him someday.
Their relationship lasted about a year before ending in 2000, strained by demanding schedules and the strict dating bans enforced by South Korean entertainment companies at the time. It was only much later that DJ Koo publicly acknowledged their previous relationship.
In 2010, Hsu became engaged to Wang just 49 days after their first date, leading to their wedding in Sanya, China, the following year. The couple had two children.
However, their marriage began to deteriorate, culminating in their divorce in Nov. 2021. Hsu accused Wang of infidelity and physical abuse, including during her pregnancy. She also cited his business challenges and erratic behavior, claiming he failed to provide for their family financially.
After her divorce, Hsu reunited with DJ Koo and remarried him in Feb. 2022. The couple resumed their life together, integrating her existing family, until her untimely death at age 49.

Barbie gained fame through her roles in TV series such as "Meteor Garden," "Mars," and "Summer’s Desire."
Initial news of her death surfaced from a Facebook post that led to widespread skepticism due to her recent public appearances, which included attending a wedding in January and a New Year’s post from DJ Koo.
Her family confirmed her passing on Monday in a statement released by her younger sister.
"Thank you for all the concern," Dee stated. "Over the Lunar New Year period, our entire family travelled to Japan for a holiday, and my most beloved, kindest elder sister Barbie caught influenza-related pneumonia and has unfortunately left us."
"I am thankful to be her sister in this life, and grateful that we have taken care of each other and kept each other company all these years. I will always be thankful to her and remember her," Dee concluded. "Shan [Barbie’s nickname], rest in peace. We love you always. Together remember forever."
