Vietnam Electric Cable Corporation (Cadivi) has introduced a new line of environmentally friendly electrical cables designed to support safer and more sustainable construction practices.

The new products use lead-free (LF) insulation and low-smoke, halogen-free (LSHF) materials, aligning with global trends toward greener technologies.

As a prominent brand in Vietnam's electrical wire and cable industry, Cadivi developed the LF and LSHF cables through research and technological innovation. The materials aim to reduce environmental impact and improve fire safety by limiting the release of toxic smoke during combustion.

"This launch marks an important step in enhancing electrical safety while protecting the environment," said Ho Quang Nhan, CEO of Cadivi. "These products are well-suited for green building projects, prioritizing durability, safety, energy efficiency, and resource conservation."

Cadivi's focus on innovation has been central to its growth strategy. The company has continuously incorporated modern production methods to remain competitive while aligning with Vietnam's transition to a low-emission economy.

"Sustainability is no longer just a trend—it's a core business direction," Nhan added. He emphasized the role of enterprises in adopting low-emission technologies, including renewable energy and sustainable building materials. While Vietnam has implemented green certification systems such as LEED and EDGE, he noted that businesses must take the initiative in integrating these solutions into operations.

In support of its sustainability goals, Cadivi has adopted cleaner production practices and invested in rooftop solar energy systems at its manufacturing sites. These efforts aim to reduce material waste and improve production efficiency.

"We're contributing to the development of green buildings and to Vietnam's broader objective of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050," Nhan said.

Cadivi operates under Gelex Electric JSC, a subsidiary of Gelex Group. As part of the group's sustainability-focused strategy, subsidiaries are encouraged to allocate up to 2% of annual revenue toward research and development (R&D). According to Gelex Group Chairman Nguyen Trong Hien, this approach supports long-term growth through innovation and international technology collaboration.

Across various industries, Vietnamese businesses are increasing investment in environmentally responsible products and operations. Dr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Standards and Quality, stressed that achieving net-zero emissions—Vietnam's pledge at the COP26 climate summit—requires coordinated efforts from both government and the private sector.

He noted that product quality and environmental responsibility must go hand in hand. From design and material sourcing to manufacturing, transportation, and consumption, each stage of a product's lifecycle should contribute to resource efficiency and emissions reduction.

Echoing this perspective, Nhan emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to sustainability that includes smart design, renewable energy adoption, and efficient management systems.

While international certifications like LEED and EDGE offer guidance, Nhan noted that real progress depends on proactive investment. He pointed to Cadivi's use of solar energy, low-emission materials, and upgraded manufacturing techniques as examples of the company's ongoing efforts.

"We are committed to using non-toxic materials and implementing modern processes that reduce emissions. Our solar investments and efficiency upgrades reflect our broader commitment to sustainable development," he said.

Through these initiatives, Cadivi aims not only to meet evolving market demands but also to contribute meaningfully to Vietnam's national carbon neutrality targets by 2050.
