Coach Dinh The Nam said Vietnam’s target at 2022 U23 AFF Youth Championship is to bring the cup home.

In a Sunday press conference, Nam said the teams in this tournament have had the best preparation and so have the U23 team of Vietnam.

"We have spent a month preparing for the tournament. Vietnam’s goal is to win the title. We will bring mostly U21 players for them to gain more international experience," Nam said.

After traveling to host country Cambodia, Vietnam had their first training session to get accquainted to the weather and pitch conditions.

Vietnam are in group C with Thailand and Singapore. The top three teams of the three groups along with the best second-placed team will advance to the semifinals.

2022 AFF U23 Youth Championship will take place from Feb. 14 to 26. Indonesia are the defending champions, having won the title in 2019.

Vietnam will play their first game with Singapore on the 19th and Thailand on the 22nd.
