Using the calculations of a supercomputer, Oddspedia has reported that the U.S. have a 99.01% chance of winning, while Vietnam's chances are only 1.23%. The probability of a draw, according to the supercomputer, is 3.03%.
The U.S. are ranked first in the FIFA rankings. Vietnam, ranked 32nd, are considered one of the weakest teams in the tournament. This is the first time that Vietnam have attended a World Cup.
In the group stage of the 2019 Women's World Cup, the U.S. defeated another Southeast Asian team, Thailand, with a score of 13-0.
On Wednesday, the Vietnam national women’s team arrived in New Zealand to prepare for the Cup. The team will play two friendly matches before the tournament, one against New Zealand on July 10, and another against Spain on July 14.
After playing the U.S., Vietnam will face Portugal on July 27. This is considered the best chance for Vietnam to win their first point at the event, as three days later, they will have to encounter the Netherlands, who were the runners-up at the previous Women’s World Cup.
