Vietnam were eliminated from the group stage, while Thailand lost 0-2 to Iran in the round of 16 on Wednesday.

Myanmar then suffered a 0-7 defeat to Japan, while Indonesia lost 0-2 to Uzbekistan despite dragging the game into extra time.

At Shangcheng Stadium on Thursday, Indonesia chose counter-attacking football. They created a few chances in the first 10 minutes but let Uzbekistan dominate after that.

Uzbekistan had five relevant chances to finish the game, but their attackers couldn't beat goalkeeper Ernando Ari one on one during 90 minutes.

In extra time, Indonesia's defense made a mistake and they let substitution striker Sherzod Esanov score in the 92nd minute.

Indonesia thought they found the equalizer in the 110th minute when Ramadhan Sananta headed it in, but the referee ruled it offside. Three minutes later, Hugo Samir's red card put an end to Indonesia’s hope of coming back and they conceded another goal in the last minute. The scorer was also Esanov.

The quarterfinals will take place on October 1, with Uzbekistan playing Saudi Arabia, Iran meeting Hong Kong, Japan facing North Korea and China encountering South Korea.
