Former Vietnam national coach Park has received an offer to become the head coach of Indonesia national football team, according to media reports.

MSN Korea reported on Sunday that Park recently received an offer from the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) to take over the team next year, when the contract of the current coach Shin Tae-yong expired.

Last week, Indonesian media outlet Bola also said PSSI considered Park the leading candidate for the Indonesia national head coach position.

It reported that PSSI will not renew Shin Tae-yong's contract, which will expire in June 2024, to make way for Park.

"PSSI ... have decided to accept all Park’s terms and make him the successor to Shin. The association believes that coach Park is the only shortcut to take Indonesia national football team to the next level," Bola added.

Park, 66, is considered the most successful coach in the history of Vietnamese football.

He became the head coach of Vietnam's national team in 2017 and achieved immense success, winning second place at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, the 2018 AFF Cup title, a place in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Asian Cup, two SEA Games gold medals in 2019 and 2021. He also helped the team advance to the final qualifiers group of the World Cup for the first time in history.

Park ended his stint in January this year as his contract with Vietnam Football Federation expired. His successor was French coach Philippe Troussier.

After parting ways with Vietnam national team, Park opened his own football academy in Hanoi in August.

Previously, there were also rumors that linked Park with several teams, most recently Thailand and Vietnamese club HCMC FC.
