The Oman national football team have arrived in Hanoi to prepare for their upcoming World Cup qualifier with Vietnam on Thursday.

About 50 members of the team landed at Noi Bai International Airport on Monday night. For this match, Oman head coach Branko Ivankovic has brought along many new faces, some very young.

"Oman have no chance to qualify for World Cup but target to peak fourth overall. The players will still have to give their best in this game," Ivankovic said.

Oman will have three training sessions in Hanoi before the game. In the first leg last year, Vietnam lost 1-3 to Oman despite scoring first.

"The atmosphere here is really good. We have prepared everything carefully and are confident to defeat Vietnam," said Mohsin Al Masruri, vice president of Oman Football Association.

Oman are fourth in group B with eight points, while Vietnam are last with three. The game will take place on Thursday at 7 p.m. (Hanoi time) in My Dinh National Stadium and will be reported live on VnExpress International.
