Hanoi FC won the 2022 V. League title following a 2-0 win against Hong Linh Ha Tinh Sunday to become Vietnam's most successful football club ever.

The club lifted the trophy with a round to spare, and in the process went past the now-defunct The Cong to become the most decorated club in the history of the V. League. They have won the title six times, with the previous wins coming in 2010, 2013, 2016, 2018, and 2019.

Before the game, Hanoi had 47 points, two more than Hai Phong with a game in hand, and only needed a draw against Ha Tinh to secure the title.

They put pressure on Ha Tinh right from kickoff, producing several shots at goal, but the latter, facing a relegation threat, responded by creating several dangerous chances of their own.

Hanoi opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Nghiem Xuan Tu dribbled past a player on the left and crossed for Tonci Mujan to head toward goal. Keeper Duong Quang Tuan could not gather the ball cleanly and Brazilian striker Lucao headed into the net for Hanoi’s first goal and his eighth of the season.

In the second half, Hanoi sought to pull down the shutters, but still managed to score another goal through Tran Van Kien, who took an accurate shot from outside the box in the 65th minute.

Ha Tinh could not break down the champions’ defense and settled for a 0-2 defeat. They have to beat Thanh Hoa FC in the last round to remain in the top flight.
