Beauty queen, footballer husband explore Singapore's signature dishes

Defender Doan Van Hau and his beauty pageant contestant wife Doan Hai My visited a Michelin-starred restaurant and enjoyed signature dishes during their trip to Singapore.

Last weekend, Hau was escorted by his newlywed wife to Singapore to have his injury examined as he prepares to return to the football pitch. Hau was diagnosed with an enthesitis injury in his right heel in September, and was put on the injured list for several months.
Following a wedding ceremony in Hau’s hometown in the northern Thai Binh province on Nov. 11, the couple held a second wedding ceremony in Hanoi on Nov. 26.

On Dec. 3, My booked a table at Bread Street Kitchen & Bar inside Marina Bay Sands to enjoy dinner with her husband.
This restaurant is owned by Michelin-starred super chef Gordon Ramsay and is famous for dishes such as beef Wellington, fish and chips, grilled cod, and other European dishes.
The two-story restaurant has indoor and outdoor spaces, overlooking Marina Bay.

A day later, the couple try frog porridge, a specialty of Singaporean cuisine - in the Geylang neighborhood.
This place was previously known as a red-light district but is home to food stalls specializing in serving frog porridge. They tried the dish at Eminent Frog Porridge, one of the five most famous restaurants selling frog porridge in Singapore.
This dish is often served in two clay pots, one containing white porridge, the other containing rich, sweet braised frog. In addition to the famous frog porridge, the menu also serves other dishes such as stir-fried frog with ginger, stir-fried frog with garlic, deep-fried frog, fried frog with oyster sauce, fried frog with chili.
The restaurant is open until 3 a.m. so is an ideal choice for late-night dining.

In Singapore, the couple also tried crab with black pepper sauce, one of the two most famous crab dishes in the island state along with crab and chili sauce.

While shopping at the Marina Bay Sands Complex, they also dropped by the Michelin-starred Ding Tai Fung Restaurant serving Chinese cuisine.
The menu there is mainly dim sum dishes such as xiao long bao, and dumplings with many flavors, as well as appetizers, snacks, soups, noodles and rice, vegetables, steamed dumplings, steamed snacks and desserts.

The couple also tried a cup of coffee from % Arabica brand which has become popular in Asia in recent years. The brand prides itself for its use of quality coffee beans harvested from their own farm in Hawaii as well as being sourced from various places around the world.
