The couple’s wedding ceremony at a five-star hotel in Hanoi started as Hau appeared on the stage on Sunday, while My was escorted by her father to guest applause.
The couple then exchanged rings, which were put in a ball-shaped box, in front of a star-studded guest line-up, including former head coach Park Hang-seo of the Vietnam National Football Team and many of Hau’s teammates on the national squad.
Some of Hau’s teammates on the national football team could not attend the event due to schedule conflicts, including center-backs Do Duy Manh and Que Ngoc Hai. Still, they sent videos containing their congratulatory messages to the couple, making the beauty queen bride cry.
Hau, 24, gained popularity after his early-career performances made him a regular starter on the national football team. His play contributed to Vietnam winning the 2018 SEA Games.
He and My, 22, began dating a few months after My competed in the 2020 Miss Vietnam contest.
The couple publicized their relationship in 2022. They completed their engagement ceremony in Hanoi earlier this month, followed by a same-day wedding ceremony in Hau’s hometown in northern Thai Binh province.
