VN-Index breaks winning streak

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index dropped 1.30% to 1,102.57 points Monday, ending an eight-session winning streak.

The index closed 14.53 points lower after gaining 9.02 points on Friday.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 22.75% to VND13.63 trillion ($581.24 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 22 tickers dropped.

ACB of Asia Commercial Bank dropped 3.6%, followed by VHM of property giant Vinhomes with a 3.4% fall.

VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank went down 3.3% while STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank dropped 3%.

Six blue chips gained, led by HDB of HDBank with 3.1% rise.

HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group and POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation both went up 1.2%.

Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND745.53 billion.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.01% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was up by 0.55%.
