The index closed 10.9 points higher after gaining 16.2 points on Thursday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 62.7% to VND14.48 trillion ($599.58 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 20 tickers gain.
ACB of Asia Commercial Bank led with a 4.5% rise, followed by MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World, up 4%, and BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings, up 2.9%.
Other gainers included GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group, up 2.8%, and VIB of Vietnam International Commercial Bank, up 2.5%.
Five blue chips fell, with VHM of property giant Vinhomes losing 1.7% and VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail decreasing by 1.6%.
Foreign investors were net buyers for the sixth straight session to the tune of VND213.86 billion, mainly buying FRT of FPT Digital Retail and IDC of construction firm Idico Corporation.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 1.40% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was up 1.51%.
