Casino Corona on Phu Quoc Island, the first in the country to allow Vietnamese, said locals spent VND141 billion ($5.9 million) since its opening in 2019.

They accounted for 5% of the total revenues of over VND2.7 trillion, Kien Giang Province authorities said in a report to the government.

It paid VND1.7 trillion in taxes to the government.

Corona is part of an ecotourism and amusement complex built by the Phu Quoc Tourism Investment and Development JSC at a cost of VND50 trillion ($2.16 billion).

It has completed a three-year trial phase during which it operated 24/7 and allowed in Vietnamese who wanted to gamble. The government has not decided on what will happen after the trial.

But they have be over 21 years, earn a minimum of VND10 million a month and have no criminal record or objections from their family.

Entry costs VND1 million for 24 hours and VND25 million a month.
