Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway is proposed to start construction in 2023 with a total investment of VND44.3 trillion ($1.95 billion).

The expressway will stretch 188.2 kilometers (117 miles) and connect four Mekong Delta localities of An Giang, Can Tho, Hau Giang and Soc Trang.

Construction is expected to be carried out during the period of 2023 to 2025 and will complete in 2027. In the first phase, four express lanes, total width 17 meters and maximum speed of 80 kph (50 mph), will be constructed.

The finished expressway will have six high speed lanes, with a total width of 32.25 meters.

The Chau Doc - Can Tho - An Giang project, together with An Huu - Cao Lanh Expressway, will be the two main expressways along the horizontal axis of Mekong Delta.

When completed, the routes will interconnect with roads along the vertical axis to reduce traffic volume on National Highway 1 and National Highway 91. It will also expand connection between Mekong Delta provinces, Cambodia and other Southeast Asian nations.
