Auto sales plummet in April

Sale of autos plunged in April after two consecutive months of growth, according to data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA).

A total of 22,409 units were sold last month, down 25% from March, according to sales records of VAMA members.

VAMA comprises most major auto distributors in Vietnam, except for VinFast and TC Motor (which distributes Hyundai cars).

In the first four months VAMA saw 92,801 units sold, down 30% year-on-year.

Thaco led with 27,427 units, down 45% year-on-year, followed by Toyota with 17,813 units, down 35%.

Ford, Mitsubshi and Honda make up the top five.

VinFast VF e34 was the best-selling model last month, followed by the Ford Ranger and Toyota Corolla Cross.
