Tran Thi Ngoc Trinh, 35, has been charged with disrupting public order, with a potential sentence of 2-7 years in prison, HCMC prosecutors said Monday.
Tran Xuan Dong, 36, Trinh's motorbike instructor, was charged with disrupting public order and fabricating seals and documents.
Prosecutors said they agreed with an investigation by HCMC police, which revealed that on Oct. 6 last year, Trinh and Dong pulled off large displacement motorbike stunts without appropriate licenses on a road section of Thu Duc City. Trinh performed the stunts without protective gears and in "inappropriate" positions.
Prosecutors said they agreed with an investigation by HCMC police, which revealed that on October 6 last year, Trinh and Dong pulled off large displacement motorbike stunts without appropriate licenses on a road section of Thu Duc City. Trinh performed the stunts without protective gear and in inappropriate positions, such as lying or kneeling on the motorbike.
In September last year, Trinh and Dong also performed stunts on a Kawasaki Ninja at the Thu Thiem urban area, standing on one side of the vehicle, or letting go of both hands while riding it, investigation found.
They recorded the stunts and posted them as five videos on several social media platforms, including TikTok and Facebook. The videos received over 163 million interactions.
Prosecutors said the posted content had negatively affected security, order and social safety, as well as the youth's lifestyle.
Trinh and Dong were detained on Oct. 19 last year, with the police seizing three motorbikes, drones, documents and electric devices and evidence.
Trinh said she regretted her actions and was repentant, hoping to receive leniency.
