Hai Phong cop arrested, sacked for organizing drug party

Bui Thi Ngoc Bich, 36, of the city firefighting police department, was caught red-handed by the police while using drugs at the party held at a villa on April 4. They also found 0.13 grams of ketamine at the place.

Bich and an officer from the Duong Kinh District police department and seven others later tested positive for drugs from the party.

The other officer has not been arrested. Vietnam does not treat drug use as a criminal offense, and sends drug users into rehabilitation programs, either at home or police facilities.

Along with Bich, Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, 38, wife of the villa's owner, and Vu Hoang Cuong, 42, were also arrested for organizing the drug party.

The two police officers have been fired.
