Tourism company Vietravel was back in the black in the third quarter with profits of nearly VND7 billion ($282,000) after incurring losses for two straight quarters.

It reported revenues of VND1.49 trillion for the third quarter, 25 times up from the same period last year.

It had reported losses of VND5.6 billion for the second quarter and VND108 billion for the first quarter of this year.

In the first nine months, its revenues were worth VND2.7 trillion but losses mounted to over VND100 billion though admittedly they were a fifth of the losses it had racked up in same period last year amid Covid.

The company said its outbound tours, including to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, have seen a boom in recent months while its operations in localities as Hanoi, Hue and Vung Tau and Quang Ninh provinces have done exceedingly well.

Vietravel hopes to serve some 150,000 customers and earn revenues of VND1 trillion in the last quarter to take full-year revenues to over VND3.5 trillion and achieve a profit of VND5.8 billion.

Its carrier, Vietravel Airlines, plans to begin a daily Hanoi-Bangkok service in early December and HCMC-Bangkok service a month later.
