Unveiling background of actress Midu’s fiancé: From plastic empire heir to star romance

Dat, 34, is the son of Tran Duy Hy, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Duy Tan Plastics Manufacturing Corporation. He completed his education in the U.S., earning a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Management from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California.

After graduating from university, he joined his family’s company as a business analyst. He assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Plascene, a subsidiary of Duy Tan Plastics, in 2016. Concurrently, he began serving as the assistant to the general director of Duy Tan Plastics.

In addition to his business career, Dat serves as the Vice President of the Family Business Club under the Ho Chi Minh City Young Business People Association, where he is actively involved and frequently appears at the association’s events.

His father Tran Duy Hy, 65, founded Duy Tan Plastics at the age of 28. The conglomerate specializes in the production of household plastics, packaging plastics, and industrial plastics.

In 2021, the conglomerate officially joined multinational consumer packaging solution provider SCG Packaging (SCGP) after selling 70% of its shares.

Duy Tan Plastics now operates five factories nationwide. Its products are sold across Vietnam and in over 60 international markets.

Along with his notable career achievements and distinguished family background, Dat is recognized for his handsome looks. Meanwhile, Midu has described her fiancé as kind, decent, and warm, expressing her happiness that after a long wait, fate had brought her the right person.

Sources close to Midu and Dat have disclosed that the couple will meet with both families in Ho Chi Minh City during the first week of May. They traveled to Paris at the start of the year to shoot pre-wedding photos and try on wedding dresses, and Midu said she had "found her dream dress" during a visit to the Paris showroom of Elie Saab. She reportedly ordered several custom pieces for her forthcoming wedding, although the specific designs remain undisclosed.

Born Dang Thi My Dung, Midu, 35, has established herself as a model and actress. Her most celebrated works include the TV series "Nhung Thien Than Ao Trang" (Angels in White Dresses) and the film "Thien Menh Anh Hung" (Blood Letter), which was directed by Vietnamese-born director Victor Vu.

Besides her career in the entertainment industry, she is also known as a lecturer and entrepreneur.
