Respite at singer Quang Dung's tranquil Japanese-style villa

On Feb. 26, the singer posted a photo with his mother celebrating Lunar New Year at their home. The Japanese-style living space, praised by many fans and colleagues, embraces a minimalistic design.

Dung has been living in Ho Chi Minh City with his mother - 85-year-old Nguyen Thi Be - for many years. She moved south from the central province of Binh Dinh to be with him. The singer said his mother gave birth to ten children, four of whom have passed away. He is the eighth child in the family. "I have modified the house to be more accessible for the elderly ever since my mom moved in with me," Dung said.

In front of the house is a koi pond, surrounded by green plants.

Drinking coffee while watching the fish swim in the water is one of the singer’s daily habits. "Listening to the sound of flowing water and watching the fish frolic brings peace to my mind," he said.

Dung has arranged many Buddha statues around the house.

He mentioned that looking at the Buddha statues brings him relief and serves as a reminder to always be kind and righteous.

The living room is an open space with multiple partitions and windows that overlook the garden and pond, allowing for abundant natural light.

Wood is used extensively alongside art and decorations throughout the house’s interior, creating a cozy and tranquil ambience.

A lover of fine arts, Dung displays many art pieces throughout the house. In one corner hangs a painting inspired by Queen Nam Phuong, the last queen of Vietnam.

The singer’s leisure room is a cozy retreat, where he enjoys listening to music and reading books.

On the top floor, Quang Dung built a stage and studio for professional recording. The space also doubles as a location for the singer to gather with friends and colleagues.

The singer hosts a few parties every year for friends and relatives. The artist couple Cam Van - Khac Trieu (first row, from the right), are his neighbors. Quang Dung, born Thai Van Dung in the city of Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh, participated in the Binh Dinh Television Singing Contest in 1997 and won second prize. In 1998, he was nominated by the Binh Dinh Department of Culture to represent the province in the singing contest "Good Voice of the Central - Central Highlands Provinces" in Hue, for which the singer won a gold medal. After that, he moved to Ho Chi Minh City and began singing at music lounges. Quang Dung is famous for his warm and deep vocal range and elegant style. In 2007, he married Jennifer Pham (Miss Asia USA 2006), but divorced two years later. Together they had a son named Bao Nam.
