Chinese actress Angelababy shared promotional photos and uploaded videos to celebrate the Lunar New Year, after her social media ban for watching a strip club performance of Blackpink’s Lisa lifted.

She uploaded a short video celebrating Lunar New Year in a pink shirt and with a bright demeanor, according to China Times.

On her personal page on the same day she posted photos of her makeup, hairdo and preparation for a photo shoot. Her team also released new promotional photos.

Her Weibo and Douyin accounts were unblocked on Jan. 30.

According to media site On, the actress was cautious and quiet for a while, waiting for the right opportunity to reappear. Three months ago she was banned from posting articles and comments on social networks for "violating the law and platform regulations."

Video network Douyin also blocked users from clicking "follow" in Angelababy’s account.

She has some 140 million fans on Weibo and Douyin, making her one of the most-followed celebrities in China.

She had disappeared from the public eye, with TV shows and promotional photo shoots canceled and the screening of her latest movie "Everlasting Longing" delayed.

But another actress, Zhang Jiani, who also watched Lisa’s show in France along with Angelababy, still has her Weibo account blocked. Her latest post was on October 2023. She had taken pictures and promoted the show while Angelababy had attended quietly.

Some sources said she has been banned for one year because her level of violation was more serious.

Often referred to as a would-be Chinese Kim Kardashian, Angelababy has appeared in the Chinese variety show Keep Running (2014 to present) and in the 2016 sequel to the Hollywood blockbuster Independence Day (1996).

Angelababy had been banned from posting on social media since last November, an act believed to be the consequence of the actress’ participation in Blackpink Lisa’s striptease performance in Paris.

The actress was prohibited from posting and commenting on social media platform Weibo due to "violations of laws and platform regulations."

Internet users were also unable to follow the actress’ account on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

Strip dance is classified as a "sexually related activity" in China, and entertainment industry workers are banned from organizing, attending, or promoting such activities, as ruled in the country’s laws.

Angelababy, 34, is an actress, businesswoman, investor, model, and singer. She started her career in the entertainment industry in 2007 and has become one of the top actresses in China. Her Weibo account has garnered over 105 million followers, making her one of the most-followed celebrities in China.

Born Lalisa Manobal in Thailand, Lisa, 26, made her debut with the South Korean girl group Blackpink in 2016. She launched a simultaneous solo career in 2021.

She performed for three nights at the Crazy Horse Paris on September 28-30. All of her shows were limited to people aged over 16 only, and guests were asked to not use their cellphones during the performances.
