Melinda French Gates, the former spouse of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and a billionaire herself, has quashed engagement rumors involving former Fox News correspondent Jon Du Pre.

Melinda’s spokesperson confirmed to Page Six on Monday that she is neither engaged nor dating the former Fox News correspondent Jon Du Pre any longer. The details of their separation have not been disclosed.

Rumors about Melinda’s engagement to Du Pre began circulating last weekend when she was observed exiting a helicopter in New York City, sporting a large diamond ring on her left hand.

TMZ initially reported the romantic relationship between Melinda, 59, and Du Pre, 65, in 2022. This followed Melinda’s disclosure that she was "dipping her toe" back into the dating scene during a CBS Mornings interview, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Previously, Du Pre was married to the 1985 Miss Utah Gina Larsen. They have three children together.

Melinda and her ex-husband Bill announced their divorce in May 2021 after 27 years of marriage, which was finalized three months later.

Bill, 68, is currently dating Paula Hurd, the 61-year-old widow of the late Mark Hurd, who was the CEO of the American multinational computer technology corporation Oracle.

As of April 24, Forbes estimated Melinda’s net worth at US$11.2 billion and Bill’s at US$128.8 billion.
