Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index declined by 0.07% to 1,279.82 points Monday for the fourth consecutive session.

The index closed 0.93 points lower after dropping 3.05 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 7% to VND14.234 trillion (US$560.8 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 16 tickers fell.

VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail saw the biggest decline of 1.9%, TPB of private lender TPBank went down 1.7%, and VHM of property giant Vinhomes dropped 1.3%.

Ten blue chips gained. PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex closed 3.7% higher, BCM of Becamex Investment and Industrial Development gained 3.4%, and VJC of budget airline Vietjet increased by 2.2%.

Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND1.67 trillion, mainly selling HDB of lender HDBank and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.07%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.24%.
